Current Board Openings The City of Tipp City is seeking interested citizens to serve on the following Boards. Planning Board (2 vacancies) This five-member board is responsible for making recommendations to City Council and the City Manager on all matters affecting the development of the City. Typical responsibilities include making zoning recommendations and approving preliminary and final plans for development of a property. Members are appointed to serve three-year terms. The Planning Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Board of Zoning Appeals (2 vacancies) This five-member board is responsible for hearing and determining appeals from administrative decisions, petitions for variances in the case of peculiar and unusual circumstances and hardships which would prevent the reasonable use of land, and other matters as may be requested by City Council. Members are appointed to serve three-year terms. The BZA meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Civil Service Commission (1 vacancy) This commission meets as needed to prescribe, amend, and enforce rules for Civil Service positions for the City; such as, examinations, resignations, appointments, promotions, removals, transfers, layoffs, suspensions, reductions, reinstatements and for standardizing positions and maintaining efficiency. Members are appointed for six year terms. Board of Tax Appeals (3 vacancies) This Board meets as needed to hear appeals filed by citizens concerning tax assessments. Members are appointed for one-year terms. Building Standards Board of Review (2 vacancies) The purpose of this Board is to allow citizens an opportunity to appeal from the Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC). This Board meets on an as needed basis. Tree Board (1 vacancy) This Board will study, investigate, and counsel; develop or update annually, and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal, or disposition of trees and shrubs in parks, along streets, and in other public areas. The Board, when requested by City Council, shall consider, investigate, make finding, report, and recommend upon any special matter of question coming within the scope of its work. Members serve three-year terms. This board meets on the second Wednesday of the even months of the year at 5:15 p.m. Restoration & Architectural Review Board (1 vacancy) This Board is responsible for reviewing plans for construction, alteration, repair, moving and demolition of structures in the Old Tippecanoe Historic District. The Board also serves in an advisory capacity to both property owners within the Historic District as well as Planning Board and City Council. Members of the Restoration Board serve three year terms and must be a resident of the City with some relationship or interest in the Historic District or a non-resident who owns property in the District. The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Government Center. Citizens who wish to be considered for any Board or Commissions must complete an application and submit it to the Clerk of Council by December 1, 2008.
