Customers of Tipp City Electric enjoy the benefits of a municipally owned and operated electric utility and have since 1897.  The Tipp City Municipal Power System currently provides electricity to the City's customers at a substantial savings over our neighboring electric suppliers.  Tipp City along with other communities throughout the states of Ohio, Michigan, Virginia and Pennsylvania is a member of AMP-Ohio.  American Municipal Power-Ohio is a Columbus based nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for municipal electric systems.

The Electric Division handles all of the distribution of electric power to residents and owns three main substations for electric power.  Street lighting, athletic facilities and community buildings are provided with electricity at no charge.  About 5,000 electric meters are in use throughout Tipp City limits.
