Annexation Definition: Annexation is the process whereby an unincorporated portion of an adjacent property within the township is "annexed" or incorporated into the City limits of Tipp City. Annexations are generally initiated by the property owner who is seeking services from Tipp City, such as: potable water, municipal electric, and/or sanitary sewer. After the annexation is completed the property still remains in the township, since the City of Tipp City has not seceded from the underling township. Process: There are several different types of annexations that are permitted in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code (ORC). Each type of annexations has it's own requirements, timelines, and process which must be followed. Legislative action will be required from Tipp City and the Miami County Commissioners, and possibly the Township Trustees. Generally, the City used the "Type-1 Expidited" annexation petition process for annexations. The Type-1 process may take from 4-6 months to completed, and is a cooperative process with the Township Trustees. How Do I Get Started: For more information about the annexations, please contact Bradley Vath, Assistant City Manager for more details and information. |
