Current Board Openings
The City of Tipp City is seeking interested citizens to serve on the following Boards:
Citizens who wish to be considered for any Board or Commission must complete an application and submit it to Janice Bates, Clerk of Council. Applications are available online at www.tippcityohio.gov or at the Government Center located at 260 South Garber Drive, Tipp City.
Board of Tax Appeals
The Board meets as needed to hear appeals filed by citizens concerning tax assessments. Members are appointed by City Council for one-year terms expiring December 31st.
Board of Zoning Appeals
This five-member board is responsible for hearing and determining appeals from administrative decisions, petitions for variances in the case of peculiar and unusual circumstances and hardships which would prevent the reasonable use of land, and other matters as may be requested by City Council. Members are appointed to serve three-year terms. The BZA meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm.
The purpose of the Parks Advisory Board shall be to promote the development of a comprehensive parks system in the city; make recommendations to City Council and staff on matters pertaining to the development and improvement of the city’s parks and recreational facilities; provide for citizen input on park matters; and guide planning efforts to ensure compliance with the Parks and Open Space Master Plan. Meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the second Monday of the odd months of the year.
The Planning Board makes recommendations to the City Manager and Council on all matters affecting the physical development of the municipality. They make recommendations to City Council related to amendments to the zoning code & zoning map; make decisions on special uses and certain site plan review applications; review and make decisions on certain alternative equivalent compliance applications; hear, review, and decide on any proposed amendments to previously approved planned unit developments plans. Planning Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm.
Restoration and Architectural Board of Review
The most common activity of the Restoration Board is the review of property owners’ plans for construction, alteration, repair, moving, or demolition of structures within the Restoration District. The Restoration Board uses The United States Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and the Restoration District Design Manual to help determine whether a proposed project is appropriate to the preservation and continued improvement of the Restoration District. Restoration Board Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm.
It shall be the responsibility of the City Tree Board to study, investigate, and counsel; develop or update annually, and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal, or disposition of trees and shrubs in parks, along streets, and in other public areas. Additionally, the Board, when requested by City Council, shall consider, investigate, make finding, report, and recommend upon any special matter of question coming within the scope of its work. Meetings are held the second Wednesday in even months of the year at 5:15 pm.
